There may be other possible advantages but I'm writing this at late night and I'm too tired to think more deeply about this. However, I say this advantage is less certain because I am unsure how much the storage issue really are the average players but performance requirements may be a relevant issue. Any additions through mandatory patches may incur additional resource requirements and it may not be fair to these players if all of them cannot be opted out. There is also another possible advantage, though this is less certain, from DLC model: the model permit the developer to expand the game mechanically and visually without having the core game take up too much storage space or making it too performance-intensive for the average players' computers. Don't like supernatural stuff? Then don't download the DLC with that. I should also remind everyone that DLC model, free or paid, have a distinct advantage: it permit us to be more selective about what kind of gameplay we would like. Given the list of things we have seen, I think it's fair to say that the Paralives end goal isn't to nickel and dime us, so why are we acting like we want the content to be chopped up and delivered in paid packages? Basic things shouldn't become expansions, and things that you wanted in that one EA game that are or were expansions shouldn't be new expansion ideas. Maybe something involving exploring Space or becoming a CEO of a MegaCorp, and all the corruption that comes with that. There are plenty of things people do IRL that could be an expansion. ![]() ![]() A good example would be supernatural things or stuff from the future, or just something that people would want but may not necessarily fit the game. Expansions should add extra content that is not structural. ![]() Paralives is a completely different game, so recommending expansion packs for what should be in a life sim by default is pretty ridiculous.
